New Work

I've been enjoying the fall colors and shooting bouldering up in the Mountains. Colorado high country really sets me off this time of year. It is a time of reflection for me, the beginnings to Autumn, and exactly one year of being full time with this photo gig. So cool.

The newest urban climber is out, and within it are my contributions in the "unearthed" and "drive" columns. The first for Sheyna and the second for Courtney Hemphill. The photos for both turned out nicely. Pick up a copy! Also, PrAna is running an add online with some Rocklands shots. Very Cool, those guys rule.

Been hanging around anchors this week shooting Matt Wilder's sketch-fest first ascent of "Viceroy" 5.14R in Boulder Canyon, and Jonathan Siegrist's sick ascent of Vogue 5.14b at the Industrial Wall in Eldorado. Things are badass right now! so psyched -Andy

Eldorado Springs (a more permanent adventure)

I recently (yesterday) moved into Eldorado Canyon and am so psyched to call this place home. It is my favorite climbing area on the frontrange, and it has been a dream of mine to live here since I first moved to the area almost six years ago. Sheyna and I are tucked away in her cozy cabin right up against open space on the north (sunny) side of the canyon, across the river, and directly under the East Draw. Once home to Jim Erickson (and many others), the place is known in the canyon as "Trail's End." We are both stoked, so come drop us a visit next time your climbing in the canyon. Cheers!

Weekend Wars

It was a pretty crazy weekend. Sheyna and I headed up to Summit County for 2 weddings, both on the same day. I photographed one of them and am gaining more experience for these rad gigs. (Congrats Julie and Phil!) Despite having an already overbooked day, we still managed to get out, do a little hiking, and enjoy the change of seasons. The cooler temps and kinder breeze means the climbing season in back in full throttle. I am psyched to get back to my bread and butter. It's back on the wall for me starting this afternoon and I'm very anxious.

Serving Optics

...please enjoy another communal tasting of the visual portions. I like this unpublished photo a lot. I think the angle on the dangle is unique. Basically, this shot just plain gets me psyched to go climbing. Just look at that hold he is going to!

My boy, Jonathan Siegrist sending "Three Bars Black" 5.13b Saint George, Utah. Congrats to J-tron for joining the ArcTeryx team! You can visit his Team Profile to view other photos we've shot together over the last year.

I'm bustin' out the box...

and doing some weddings this month! I'm totally psyched on this. I love working with people, especially those willing to give me the time and energy to get the shots I need. I honestly really embrace the opportunities to shoot new and exciting things. I am an adventure photographer, and I tell ya', nuthin' is more adventurous than this! Wooooooo!!!!!!! Besides, who better to work with than those on their happiest of days?! Need a climbing photographer to shoot your next wedding?

The segment Big Up and I shot in the Rocklands will be opening the show. If I don't see you tonite, I'll see you manana! Below is a "compressionist" painting of Daniel Woods on the First Ascent of "Derailed" V14. The problem will be featured in the show. Photos from the trip are starting to unearth themselves. Paying the Piper (shoulda known)

Yesterday was a little epic on the ol' dogs. I headed up to Rocky Mountain National Park with Tommy Caldwell and friends to hang out and climb on some new boulders. The approach is over 8 miles and after getting a bit lost on the dark hike back, I'd say the area was about 18 miles round trip. I kept thinking "someone please tell my feet we've made it home already!"

Gotta suffer for it sometimes I guess, at least get your $20 dollar admission's worth. Nevertheless, I had an amazing time and witnessed a hand full of new gems going down, including this amazing V11.

New Work

Things have been on the up and up. I have shooting jobs outside the "outdoor/adventure" box and I'm absolutely loving it. The challenge of walking into new and unknown creative situations is really exciting for me. Sometimes you gotta go and get both feet wet.

RRFT Premiere

Get your tickets folks. Last year they turned away over 200 people at the door. Josh has recently released snipits of footage we shot together this summer and incorporated it into the Reel Rock Film Tour Trailer. Watch it here.

Wed. Sept. 10th. See yall there! -Andy

Ten Sleep Canyon

I'm just got back from Ten Sleep, WY where we kicked it hard for over a week climbing on some of the country's best limestone. This is probably my favorite sport climbing area and certainly the most beautiful. I can't say enough about the area. It's a very special place.

Our week started out with a bang. As we were driving through Casper, WY, Sheyna's back tire exploded on the interstate and we barely made it safely to the shoulder. We couldn't believe the damage the tire had done to the side of the car. That really sucks!

We spent the week exploring new crags, trying projects, and shooting some killer blue limestone lines. Ally Rainey and crew are doing an amazing job developing the canyon and if you have not been there before, go now. Its a little piece of Spain in cowboy country. Yeeeee-Hawwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!
